We all know the struggle of keeping important files and documents private and confidential when using a shared computer. Thankfully, there is now a way to keep others from accessing them. Hide Files is a program developed by Vovsoft that will let you lock all your files, folders, and even your drives to prevent others from opening them.

Lock your files easily

Downloading and installing Hide Files is quick and easy. Upon running the application, you will first be asked to provide a password that will allow you to access Hide Files itself. This password will also be used every time you run Hide Files to lock your programs. With that said, the process of keeping your files safe from prying eyes is pretty simple. Once you launch the program, you will be greeted by its simple and easy to understand interface. There are only a few function buttons displayed at the top of the program, all of which are meant to execute the basic functions of the program. The first three buttons can be used to add the files, folders, or drives that you would like for the program to lock and hide, which can be done by clicking the next two buttons. Once you are able to choose, your selected files will appear as a list on the space below the function buttons. Just click on the file to highlight them and then click on the “Lock” or “Unlock” button at the top of the window. Just like that, your files are now secured and safe from others! You can even check your file’s location folder to make sure that it is no longer displayed and has been kept hidden from view completely. The only way for you to see the file again is to run Hide Files and unlock it. 

Another way to lock your files is to drag said file or folder towards the program’s window and it will appear on the list. Then, instead of going for the “Lock” button, just select your folder using right-click and you will see the Lock and Unlock options as well. You can keep your files hidden this way as well.
